ITINERARY C - Rift Valley ~ Mt Kenya ~ Lake Turkana and Coast
Day 1 - Rift Valley
Arrive Nairobi, met and driven for 1½ hrs into the Rift Valley to Malewa
River Lodge on Kigio Wildlife Conservancy. Time to relax followed by lunch.
Late afternoon spend fishing in the Malewa River for Rainbow trout.
Overnight Malewa River Lodge.
Day 2 - Rift Valley
Early breakfast then depart for the Aberdare National Park - a drive of
approx., 1½ hrs and a day spent fishing various streams in this highland
park. Altitude of approx., 8000 ft. Possibilities of seeing, elephant,
buffalo and also visiting some very pretty waterfalls cascading 300 ft.
Return to Malewa River Lodge for overnight.
Day 3 - Rift Valley
A day of options - Visit Lake Nakuru National Park for game viewing with
the possibilities of seeing lion, leopard, black and white rhino as well as
flamingo, pelican and many other bird species; or visit Lake Naivasha and
try some fishing for large mouth black bass in this fresh water lake; or
stay at Kigio and fish the Malewa for trout or a game walk or drive and
relax. Overnight Malewa River Lodge.
Day 4 - Rift Valley ~ Mount Kenya
Depart Malewa River Lodge early in the morning and drive to Nanyuki
airstrip - a drive of approx., 3 hrs then short charter flight from Nanyuki
to Lake Rutundu on the moorlands of Mt Kenya at an altitude of 13,000 ft.
Rest of the day spend fishing for Rainbow trout on Lake Rutundu and
possibly, Lake Alice. Overnight Rutundu log cabins on self catering basis.
Day 5 - Mount Kenya ~ Lake Turkana
Early breakfast then depart for Nanyuki airfield and change planes for
further charter of approx., 1½ hrs to the Jade Sea (also known as Lake
Turkana), met by Colin & Sue Burch and taken to their houseboat. Afternoon
fish for giant Nile Perch. Overnight on Lake Turkana in houseboat.
Days 6 & 7 - Lake Turkana
Full day fishing on Lake Turkana. Overnight Lake Turkana in houseboat.
Day 8 - Depart
Charter to Nairobi and either catch flight home or continue on to the Kenya
coast to Malindi for a few days deep-sea fishing.
Safari costs includes:
- Transport in a safari minibus with open roof hatch
- Game drives
- Services of an English speaking driver/guide
- Accommodation and meals as specified
- Park entry fees
- All activities within Kigio Wildlife Conservancy such as abseiling, horse
- riding, 1 hour game drive, mountain biking.

- Visas, flights
- Tips, drinks, laundry
- Personal and medical insurance
- Any item of a personal nature
- Fishing, fishing gear, licences, deep sea fishing, water sports, etc
- Charter flight Nanyuki - Rutundu
- Malindi flight
- Accommodation at Driftwood Hotel and Rutundu Lodge - you have to but your own food for Rutundu Lodge but there is a cook available
- Malindi Airport transfers
- Optional activities such as walks, etc
- Any other extras not mentioned as included
